Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition that affects the hormone levels of a woman. Women with PCOS grow many small cysts on their ovaries and produce higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones. The hormone imbalance causes them to skip menstrual periods and makes it harder for them to get pregnant.

PCOS or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is a condition that affects women due to higher than normal androgens (male hormones) in the body. This increase leads to a variety of symptoms, menstrual irregularities and even infertility. The hormonal imbalance causes the egg to not be developed properly or be released as it should in a normal system. Cysts or fluid-filled sacs are often detected in the ovaries.
Most women are diagnosed with PCOS in their 20s or 30s but it can happen at any time after puberty.
